The Pupil Premium and Service Pupil Premium is funding provided to schools which is additional to the main school funding allocation. It is allocated according to the number of pupils on-roll who are eligible for free school meals (FSM), a smaller amount allocated according to the number of children of service families, and an allocation for each pupil who has been ‘Looked After’ (in care) for 6 months or more.

High-quality teaching is at the heart of our approach, with a focus on areas in which disadvantaged pupils require the most support. Sports Premium Funding

In 2025-2026, schools received PE and sport premium funding based on the number of pupils in years 1 to 6. This funding - provided jointly by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport - was allocated to primary schools.

This funding was ring-fenced and therefore could only be spent on provision of PE and Sport in schools.
