Food Guidelines-Allergy Awareness

As part of our commitment to promoting a healthy and supportive environment for all our children, I am writing to update you on our school’s food guidelines, which are based on new legislation. Benedict’s Law came into effect on 1st September 2026, making strict allergy safety measures a legal requirement in all schools in England.

We are following the requirements of Benedict’s Law with all staff completing training last week, obtaining spare emergency medication, creating Individual Healthcare Plan for any with a diagnosed or suspected allergy and we have an Allergy Policy. This will be shared with you once it has been approved by our Governors.

Whilst we recognise that it is not possible to guarantee an allergen-free environment, the school will implement reasonable and proportionate measures to reduce risk. As part of this, we kindly ask you to follow these guidelines:

Break Time and After School Club Snacks

  • Snacks must be fruit or vegetables only.

  • Please do not send crisps, chocolate bars, or cereal bars.

Lunch Boxes

Food Sharing and Hygiene

Please talk to your child about the importance of:

• Not sharing snacks or lunch with others. This helps keep all children safe, particularly those with allergies or dietary requirements.

Birthdays and Celebrations

•We kindly ask that no sweets or cakes are brought into school for birthdays or other

  • If you wish to mark your child’s birthday, we invite you to donate a book to your child’s class. You may      include a short message inside the cover, creating a lovely legacy for your child and the school           community.
