Values and Expectations

Our Vision

We show that we care.

At The Cambridge Primary School, our message is simple: we show that we care.

Care is active. It is seen in the way we welcome, listen, teach, support and challenge. It means knowing our children well, recognising their strengths, understanding what may be getting in the way and helping them to keep moving forward.

We are proud to be part of the growing and evolving community of Aldershot. Children and families bring different experiences, stories and strengths to our school, and some join us at different points in their journey. Whoever they are and whenever they arrive, we want every child to feel that they belong, that they are valued, and that their starting point does not define what they can achieve. Every child should be known, belong and take part in an ambitious education.

We are ambitious for every child. We want children to develop strong knowledge and skills, curiosity, confidence and independence. We want them to persevere when learning is difficult, learn from mistakes, work well with others and take increasing responsibility for their learning and choices.

Strong relationships help make this possible. We believe children learn best when they feel safe, understood and connected. Showing that we care also means teaching well, maintaining high expectations, encouraging challenge and helping children return to learning when things are difficult. This reflects the school’s relational approach, where positive interactions, clear expectations and a return to belonging and learning are central.

We want every child to leave The Cambridge ready for their next stage; as a learner, as a person and as a member of their community.

That is what it means to show that we care.

Our Values and Expectations

Our values guide the way we learn, behave and treat one another. Our expectations make those values visible every day.

Kindness — We look after each other
We notice others, help, include, speak kindly and take care of our relationships.

Respect — We look after the world we live in
We value ourselves, each other and our differences, and we care for our school, our community and our environment.

Determination — We try our best
We keep going when things are difficult, accept help, learn from mistakes and approach challenges positively.

Responsibility — We are here to grow and learn
We take ownership of our actions and learning, make safe choices and help create a community in which everyone can succeed.

These expectations are for everyone at The Cambridge. Adults model and teach them, children are supported to develop them, and together they help us create a school where everyone can belong, learn and grow.

British Values

At The Cambridge, democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs are part of learning to live well together in our growing community. Children learn that their voice matters, that the voices of others matter too, and that we all share responsibility for making our community safe, fair and welcoming.
