Sport
Physical Education and Sport at The Cambridge
At The Cambridge, we're committed to providing children with rich and varied opportunities to explore sport and PE beyond the curriculum.
Extra-curricular clubs
We run teacher-led sports clubs throughout the year, open to all children in both key stages. Our partnership with Aldershot Town FC brings specialist football coaching to our pupils.
Competitive opportunities
We work closely with our local School Games Organiser (SGO) to participate in inter-school competitions across the year, including events specifically designed for children with special educational needs and those eligible for pupil premium funding. Within school, we host intra-house competitions and celebrate our pupils' sporting achievements at our annual Sports Day, held at the local athletics stadium each summer term.
Sports leadership
Each year, we select 10 children to represent the school as Sports Leaders. They receive specialist training from the SGO before helping to organise and run activities at break times for the rest of the school.
Specialist coaching
Through strong relationships with local sports clubs and organisations, we regularly bring in specialist coaches to enhance our curriculum PE, including swimming, hockey, tennis and football instruction.
Active travel and cycling
Hampshire County Council supports our commitment to active travel by providing cycling training for Year 1 and Year 5 pupils each year.
