Information for Reception September 2026

We are pleased and excited to inform you that your child has been offered a place at The Cambridge Primary School. We look forward to beginning this journey together.

The Cambridge Primary School provides a supportive and nurturing learning environment that aims to fulfil the aspirations of all our pupils. Our school is committed to more than academic achievement in reading, writing, and mathematics; it involves collaborating with families to develop the skills, attitudes, and values essential for pupils to succeed in all areas of their lives. This vision remains central to everything we do at The Cambridge Primary School.

Transition Dates and Details

Creating positive first school experiences for children starts well before their initial day in the classroom. Our goal is to ensure that when children arrive at Cambridge, they feel excited, confident, and happy, enabling them to settle quickly and begin learning and developing from the very beginning.

  • Pupil and Parent Visit to school: Wednesday 1st July 2026

The aim of the visit is for the children to spend time playing in their class and the outside area whilst getting to know their peers and the adults in their class. Staff will start to form bonds with the children and get to know their interests and needs. The children will visit in groups of six and should be accompanied by parents or carers. Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate siblings.

At this visit, you will receive an information pack explaining school routines in addition to ideas for preparing your child for school.

We ask that your child brings a family photo to the visit.

  • Parent Information Evening: Wednesday 1st July 2026 at 6.00pm-7.00pm

This will take place in the school hall this year. We will share information such as uniform, daily routines and the curriculum. You will also receive the PowerPoint by email. Following the presentation, there will be the chance to ask questions and meet with other parents.

  • Teddy Bears Family Picnic: Wednesday 15th July 2026 from 3.30pm to 4.30pm
