PE and Sport

Physical Education

At The Cambridge Primary School we are committed to providing our pupils with 2 hours (1 hour in Reception) of high quality PE each week. Within each year group units of study include: Athletics, Invasion Games, Net & Wall Games, Striking & Fielding Games, Gymnastics and Dance – each unit is tailored to suit the age group.

As a school we value to importance of a healthy active lifestyle and strong encourage the children to take part in free or low cost activities outside of school. Each year, we sign up to a scheme run by the local schools in Aldershot (The Active Aldershot Award – Triple A), this allows the children to collect stamps for each of the low cost of free activities they complete outside of school in order to receive a badge for their efforts at school.

Sports Premium Funding

Schools receive PE and sport premium funding based on the number of pupils in years 1 to 6. This funding - provided jointly by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport - will be allocated to primary school headteachers.

This funding is ring-fenced and therefore can only be spent on provision of PE and sport in schools.

Schools must spend the additional funding on improving their provision of PE and sport, but they will have the freedom to choose how they do this. See our report below, which outlines the impact of our spending and our intended impact of future spending.
